Complimentary consultation

An introductory visit to discuss our services and answer any questions you may have.  This consultation is offered at no charge and can take place any time during your pregnancy; we then wait for you to contact us.

Two more doula visits

A thorough review of your birth plan including techniques you would like to be used during the birthing process.  We will address any fears or concerns you may have and discuss your wishes surrounding your birth.  This is an opportunity for us to learn about you and how we might help you to achieve your goals.  We will go through a list of possibilities, outcomes, and interventions as well as address any questions you might like to discuss with your primary care-provider. A contract will also be signed at this time.

During the second visit we will go over logistics of either getting to the hospital or setting up your home for the birth.  A review of your birth preferences, discuss if you would like photos taken of your birth and music choices.  This will be a review of what happens during labour and we will show you some relaxation and hands-on coping techniques during labour.  Mom also receives a Thai Massage during this visit. This visit is usually done around the 37th week.

Labour and delivery

Around the 38th week of your pregnancy, we consider ourselves on call 24/7 for you and your birth. We appreciate being notified as soon as you are in labour. Early labour can be an exciting and confusing time. It is important that we stay in touch so that we can help you feel relaxed and confident.

When you feel the need for extra labour support we come to you and stay for the remainder of your labour and until all is well after the arrival of your baby. During this time we help with both your physical and emotional needs. We can also work with your partner and offer suggestions that allow them to participate at their comfort level.

After the delivery we assist with immediate breastfeeding support and then help you and your family settle in and prepare for rest.

Immediately upon hiring us, we become your personal resource. We are available via email and telephone to answer your questions and offer guidance.

After your birth

We are available to answer questions about the birth or your baby as well as any possible breastfeeding concerns that may arise.

Post-natal visit

One to two weeks after your baby is born we will visit you at your home to see how you are doing and admire your new baby. We can review your birth experience and discuss postpartum healing, infant care, and breastfeeding. As well, you will receive a birth story written especially for you.
